You hit the nail on the head! I've had ...WOW! You hit the nail on the head! I've had a few customers that are happy right up until you finish the garment and then not so much. I've since quit sewing for all people and only sew for a select few. I also require a deposit which is half of what the expect garment will cost. I charge 30 an hour. The way I see it, they are paying for the 4 years I spent obtaining my fashion degree. I know I am good, great even! And if they don't wanna pay for that then they can go to someone else and they can deal with the head ache. You get what you pay for. Home sewing is not necessarily cheaper and it's time us seamstresses who know what they are doing start charging for it. Just because you work out of a home doesn't mean you should sell yourself or your craft short.Katy Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06591325070647267488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8492173911222245690.post-52744802516120556492010-09-11T10:28:14.844-07:002010-09-11T10:28:14.844-07:00I was upset when I heard about this. We all kind of "hang out" together you'd think the customer would be more understanding. Well, soon she will have to learn to sew herself because no one will sew for her.Stephanie Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13324411278252488163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8492173911222245690.post-21704405550963477122010-09-11T10:22:30.882-07:002010-09-11T10:22:30.882-07:002 words: burn test.

Burn test showed it was 100% polyester. So now what do I do with 5 yds of blue poly? Beats me, but it's not going in my store... maybe for a costume, but not for historic clothes.

Then there was the 100% silk I would have sworn was poly... but the burn test said "silk" so beautiful clothes were born of it.

If you aren't sure you can trust the seamstress / tailor / supplier, request a fabric swatch. There are plenty of bits & pieces left over from cutting. Unfortunately with suppliers, now you mostly have to pre-pay for swatches, and home businesses can't keep cutting pieces off of sometimes limited supplies.

In any case, I love most of my customers... the exceptions are thankfully far & few between!Gail Kellogg Hopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02422972686232397428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8492173911222245690.post-602842305368891382010-09-11T06:01:07.628-07:002010-09-11T06:01:07.628-07:00Lauren,

Some people seem to go out of their way to be.....unpleasant(?).
I think if I recieved clothing made from synthetic material I would certainly send it back. Sewn with synthetic thread and I would send it back. Other than that what is there that can't be fixed. Certainly no need for any unpleasantness.Keithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12562001301604097606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8492173911222245690.post-78738995520456861952010-09-10T23:42:41.145-07:002010-09-10T23:42:41.145-07:00I am so overwhelmed by your entry, and so thankful...I am so overwhelmed by your entry, and so thankful that you've spoken out against this.
